Last Friday night, the Artis Piano Quartet, a renowned musical band from Germany entertained and played soothing European classical music to an appreciative crowd. Sounds normal? Think again. The crowd consisted of a mixed gender audience, something usually unheard of in the Muslim kingdom that has been known to impose strict rules and regulations pertaining to gender segregation. Both sexes are separated even when they queue up in banks and restaurants.

This concert took place in the Riyadh government-run cultural center and instantly converted many into fans of Mozart, Brahms and Paul Juon when the quartet played their music.
