An annual concert favorite was performed earlier this month. It’s called “Broadway Unplugged” and it is one of the most favorite programs on the entire circuit. This year’s edition had a lot of fun parts, including a few comedic songs from The Producers. The program was full of performers preparing for their new shows, or just coming off their normal shows. It’s one of those things that we really like watching. There were songs from South Pacific, Guys and Dolls and many other shows. This year’s edition seems to have worked out better than many other ones do.

Combine one of the greatest film directors in history with one of the most influential rock bands in history and you’ve got the makings of a fantastic documentary. It’s hardly news now (as its been out for months) but the Martin Scorsese directed documentary “Shine A Light,” which chronicles the Stones’ two night stand at Beacon Theatre, is an incredibly candid peak into the lives of Mick Jaggar, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, and Ronnie Wood. Initially released at the IMAX, you can now own it on DVD.

Tony Bennett has been playing nice shows lately which people are saying are good! His songs have all the fun relaxing feel that they always did and he is still really nice about it. Most singers don’t let their backup people jump up and play a little bit, but this guy gives them solos and little fun bits. And he gets some nice backup music while he sings. He seems to have a good relationship with them. When you see Tony Bennett, you can be sure that you’ll have a fun time and hear some great swingin’ tunes and he appears to be having a great time too.

Though the entirety of Ween wasn’t on tour, fans were still hoping to catch at least half-ween when they check out the Gene Ween Band. Unfortunately for them, the rest of the tour has been cancelled due to illness. Gene Ween (real name Aaron Freeman) has contracted pneumonia and is not fit for touring. So far, the management has not decided whether or not the tour dates will be resheduled.

Arlo Guthrie is a famous folk singer and he’s still touring around. He has shows frequently most years and next year is no exception. He is famous for having produced a popular version of the “City of New Orleans” and for his many other songs. He is the son of Woodie Guthrie, and he has continued the tradition all the way up to today. How can we possibly miss his show if he’s in town? He is one of the big greats these days and you can’t miss it!

“I used to be a band called The Who…but now, it’s more of a tribute band than anything else.” These are roughly the words of singer/songwriter/rock icon Pete Townshend. After the deaths of both Keith Moon and John Entwistle (drummer and bassist of The Who), Pete feels that he and Daltry are only a shell of what they used to be. However, they still tour because music is both the thing they love and know how to do best. They’ve already planned some tour dates for next year.

As you know, the Hives have finished their recent tour to support their album, The Black and White Album. A couple months ago, they wrote on their website that they are home and resting up from the tour and are now getting ready to record their next album. The band is known as one of the first garage punk bands in the world, they are from Sweden. They are favorites among the independent band movements and in the last year or so, they have been featured in several advertisements and lots of television programming. The Hives are getting more and more popular these days and their next album will get them even more visibility.

Tori Amos announced earlier this year that after working with major music labels, she will be operating independently from now on. She is well known for her very emotional and provocative songs about sexuality, religion and personal tragedy. Amos is expected to release a duet with David Byrne next year and has been working on a musical theater version of The Light Princess, by George MacDonald. Earlier this year, she released a Live DVD of a concert she played in the early 90s.
